About

Organic Violet began in a small Florida kitchen.

I have always made things, from my kids' bedframes to teaching myself to cook. I'm drawn to the precision of chemistry and engineering, and to making things that are beautiful as well as exact. I've never been one to take a brand at its word, and I wanted to know exactly what we were putting on our skin. Making my own was less a decision than the next thing to make. My husband Jeff pushed to turn it into something, and Organic Violet is what came of it.

I started with tallow, grass-fed and grass-finished from small American farms, rendered slowly by hand. Then raw honey, marula, rosehip, cold-pressed oils. Each formula worked out in small batches, adjusted until the texture, the scent, and the way it felt on skin were right.

Everything is still made this way. Small batches, slowly, a short list of named ingredients and nothing that doesn't need to be there. I keep the house small on purpose. It's the only way to make things with this much care.
